Chapter Leader
Matthew Hinkle, BSN, RN, CCRN, HNB-BC, CSSGB
Graduating from Augusta University (Medical College of Georgia) in 2017 with a BS in Nursing where he was a member of the local AHNA chapter. Matthew became an ICU nurse and ECMO specialist, where he became a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certified within 1 year. After seeing the emphasis on treating sickness while in the hospital and the impact that has on families and nurses, he volunteered as a pet therapist to give emotional support. Matthew also provided Reiki level II energy healing to his patients. Matthew says, "even when I think I'm doing everything I can do to keep myself well to deliver the best care, self-care is an evolving process...Burnout is always talked about in the literature but its always left to hospitals to fix. As nurses, we have the power to make positive change if only we let ourselves believe it". Matthew noticed a void in collaboration among holistic providers even in Atlanta and missed the support of the AHNA chapter. To better help, Matthew earned his holistic nurse certification (HNB-BC) and created the North Georgia chapter of the AHNA with the #1 goal of offering self-care support, education, collaboration. Matthew enjoys triathlon, yoga, cooking, documentaries, time with his dog Scout, and learning anything new.
